Prep Arrival and Departure Routines

​​Arrival

• The door will be open at 8.15am.  Please feel free to come in with your child before school begins but be prepare to stay with your child until the designated starting time of 8.30am
• During this waiting time, children are able to do puzzles, play board games or read books.  We do not allow other equipment as it takes too long to tidy away and often causes tears when they are asked to pack up.
• Just before starting time, help your child to complete their puzzle or game and return it to the shelf where it is sorted.
• Should your child arrive at school after the official start time it is a requirement that they go via the office to receive a late slip.  It is worth noting that the beginning of the school day often sets the tone of the day for a child and those children who arrive late often find it unsettling and upsetting, particularly if it occurs frequently.

Departure

• To help children stay focused on the teacher, the door will be closed when you arrive.  Please wait outside until the rostered "special person" opens the door at 2.30pm.
• For the safety of your child, all children will be seated on the carpet when you arrive.  Please come right in to collect your child so we can be sure they depart with the correct adult.
• All children, including bus travellers must be collected from within the Prep classroom for the first 6 weeks.
• After week 6, we will have all bus travellers move over to the bus waiting area where they can meet up with their older siblings.
• Please try to be on time as children worry if they are the last one left.  Please be sure to phone and let us know if you are going to be late or if the arrangementsfor your child change during the day.  Why not put our number in your phone as you never know when you might need it.
  
• If you are later than 2.35pm, your child will be sent over to the foyer in the school office where they can be collected.
• Should your child depart prior to the completion of the school day, it is a requirement that they go via the school office to be signed out and collect an early departure slip.
