At Glass House Mountains State School we acknowledge that language learning is a lifelong process, and, during the years of schooling, endeavour to develop confidence in using English in all our students.
The aim of the Teaching of English at Glass House Mountains State School is to underpin our school's Vision "Embrace the Future Together - Caring, Learning, Succeeding", by developing a program that is effective in its implementation, so that by the time the students complete the compulsory years of schooling, they should have developed their ability to use English effectively to:
- Participate as confident members of family and community
- Participate in a range of social and recreational situations involving literature, drama and multimedia
- Embrace and utilize advances in communication
- Undertake further study
- Obtain employment
In using English for each of these purposes, students will speak, listen, read and view, write and observe in oral, written and multi-media modes.
